A private sailing trip through the San Blas Islands is one of the most rewarding and relaxing travel experiences in the world. However, if you have never stayed overnight on a boat, you might have questions about what daily life is actually like. Here is what you can expect when you step on board an Ocean Ride catamaran.
A Typical Day in Paradise
Mornings on board begin quietly. Wake up at your own pace and enjoy a freshly brewed coffee or tea on the aft deck as the sea mist clears. Our crew prepares a fresh breakfast with tropical fruits, local bread, eggs, and freshly squeezed juices.
After breakfast, we set sail toward our next destination. Sailing times between island groups are typically short—usually between 45 minutes and 2 hours—giving you plenty of time to relax on the front trampolines, watch for dolphins, or chat with the captain about maritime navigation.
Endless Water Activities
Each afternoon we anchor in a new, pristine spot. Our catamaran acts as your private floating island. Jump directly into water that feels like a warm bath. We carry high-quality snorkeling gear, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards. You can explore vibrant coral reefs, snorkel down to a sunken shipwreck, or paddle to a completely uninhabited beach and feel like a modern-day Robinson Crusoe.
Gourmet Dining Under the Stars
A key highlights of our charters is the dining. Our crew takes pride in serving fresh, delicious meals. Seafood is a staple of the San Blas diet; our captain regularly purchases fresh lobster, giant crab, and red snapper directly from Guna fishermen who approach our boat in traditional wooden canoes. Enjoy lunch and dinner served on deck, accompanied by refreshing cocktails, wine, or ice-cold beer.
Comfortable Accommodations
At night, we anchor in protected, calm bays behind outer reefs, ensuring the boat remains incredibly steady. Our cabins feature comfortable double beds, reading lights, and private en-suite bathrooms. Constant trade winds and onboard fans keep the cabins cool and breezy as you drift off to sleep to the rhythmic sounds of the ocean.
